What does your baptism mean to you now?
by GiftsinMen ini was baptised on 1st sept 1990, 25years ago today.
it is still a date with deep meaning for me.
i never dedicated my life to serving any man or any organisation, this was my choice - as a grown adult - to serve my god through jesus christ.

I thought I was going to be transformed somehow. Nothing radical or ecstatic but I thought I'd feel a change of some kind. I didn't. -

Intro and Thoughts
by ThinkerBelle ini've been lurking on the board for almost a year now and i think i'm ready to come out of hiding (although, i'm so nervous as i type this).
i'm not ready to share everything about my story, but the basics are that i'm a born-in, elder's kid, baptized as a teenager because i was tired of hearing people ask me "all your friends are baptized, when are you going to get baptized?
", married an unbeliever (was df, but came back shortly after) and we have two kids.

Welcome ThinkerBell. You don't have to be in fear of posting here; it sounds like you're already mentally out.
My advice would be for you to start fading but do it slowly for the sake of your parents. The more you find out about ttatt the more painful going to the meetings will be.
Enjoy the rest of your life.

But what is the dark side of Judeo/Christian/Islamist faith? To either exterminate those who are outside of their faith or at the very least consider them worthy of infinite and eternal torture (which shows gross disrespect even if they don't kill them)? -

What Convinced you to Leave?
by LaurenM ini've been posting here a lot, but these last few weeks have been very difficult for me.
anyways, lately, i've been thinking about confessing everything i've done to the elders and going back, but deep down, i don't really think it's the truth...so my question is, what convinced you it wasn't the truth and that leaving wasn't a horrible decision that everyone in the truth makes it out to be?

What convinced me? Their self worship. It oozes out of every pore in their body. -

Largest amount of refugees since WW2 in Europe
by Powermetal4ever inso i had a discussion with my mother about this, and she claims that because of this that: "we are surely living in the last days right now" while i must admit myself that the situation seem chaotic, i don't want to believe that it is the last days.
so question is, how do i face an opinion like that?

Powermetal4ever, there will never be anything like "the last days" in the Bible. We can have major catastrophes with 90% of our population killed but that would not be Armageddon or any other aspect of the Biblical predictions and interpretations thereof.
As for playing the game of which disaster is the worse my two favorites are the Black Death (Bubonic plague) and the Taiping rebellion.
The Bubonic/Pneumonic plague pandemics of the 14th century killed 1/4 of the population throughout Eurasia in the first sweep. There were four other pandemics in a 100 year period. I mention this example not merely because of its large numbers but because of the large percentage of the population affected.
The Taiping Rebellion was a civil war in China in 1850-1864 that killed 20 million people. I like to use this as an example because even though more people died in World War II this war happened before 1914. That should throw the Witnesses off balance.
